Please reblog to spread awareness.
First day of spring break I got a text asking if I knew where my friend Josh was, I’d been out of the state for college so I had no idea. A couple hours later I received another text telling me that my friend Josh had shot himself in a parking lot.
At the time, there was no proof as to why he had done this. His life had been taking a turn for the better. He was headed towards high school graduation and attending his dream school in the fall.
Now I finally know why. On March 6th 2014, a student in his school sent these horrible messages continuously. For hours. Josh could not take it and ended his life the next day on March 7th.
The student that sent these horrible texts? He’s fine. In fact he faced NOTHING from my previous high school. Panther Creek High School located in Cary, NC should be ashamed of themselves. A mutual friend wanted to launch an awareness campaign against bullying through our schools student council, but was rejected due to “emergency protocol”.
The student who sent these texts faced no punishment from the school and will be attending university in the fall. He is going to have the normal future that he robbed from my friend, and frankly I think that’s bull shit. It took a couple months to officially obtain all of the phone records. But the case is weak because cyber bullying needs to be “recurring” so chances are the student responsible for my friends death is going to face no consequences at all.
